ACTION FOR CHILDREN ADOPTION YORKSHIRE
Action for children Adoption Yorkshire is one of 5 adoption projects operated by Action for Children in England. As a voluntary adoption agency we are concerned primarily with recruiting prospective adopters for the most vulnerable groups of children and we recruit across the Yorkshire and Humberside area.
Becoming an approved adopter
We are looking for prospective adopters who can meet the needs of the following groups of children.
Children with a disability
Single children over 4 years of age
Sibling groups of children
Children from ethnic minority backgrounds Not everyone has the necessary skills we are looking for but we guarantee a swift response to all enquiries and if we decide to accept an application will ensure that training and assessment is a dual process so that delay is minimized. Action for Children Adoption Yorkshire is committed to encouraging all groups in society to consider adoption. We have had considerable success in recruiting carers from the Black and Asian community and have workers from those communities to advise and assist applicants. We consider all applicants irrespective of gender,marital status, sexual orientation or ethnic origin.
Action For Children provides quality training both before and after placement and view this as a lifelong commitment to adopters and children adopted through this agency.
OTHER SERVICES
The Project has 2 adoption support workers who provide a comprehensive range of Adoption Support Services. Action For Children Adoption Yorkshire also provides specialist training for experienced adopters and is dedicated to addressing the long term needs of adoptive families. Because we are part of Action for Children, one of the largest charities in the UK, we draw on wide ranging childcare knowledge and experience in the organisation and our adopters and their children benefit from these links.
